talking ≠ doing

i always felt, talking about my goals and the future plans was making me less motivated, and i was not able to focus on doing the actual work. ive been thinking lately why is this happening.
ive come across few articles on the reward chemical dopamine.
dopamine is a neurotransmitter that is responsible for the feeling of pleasure and reward. it is also responsible for the feeling of motivation and focus.
ive realized, as you talk about your goals and the plans especially in a way that gets praised or recognized, your brain releases this chemical - dopamine, it gives you a false sense of accomplishment. this was eventually making me less motivated to do the actual work to accomplish the goals.
This was studied by psychologist Peter Gollwitzer, who showed that:
People who talk about their intentions are less likely to follow through on them, because public acknowledgment can create a premature sense of identity (“I’m the kind of person who writes books”) without having done the work.
